About Deirdre Fay
"Thank you for such a wonderful and insightful course. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I can just picture you working with your clients. You instill a sense of purpose in others. I was amazed by the sense of warmth in the room and how open and honest people were with each other. It made learning the skills so much more effective and personal. I honestly didn't want the course to end, I was having so much fun learning!"
–Therapist who took Becoming Safely Embodied Workshop
The Becoming Safely Embodied skills arise from my experience of dealing with a history of trauma. I was lucky to be living in a spiritual community, Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, which surrounded me with a nurturing environment. After living there for six years, I worked with people who were living in very different environments Seeing how they struggled to make their lives more satisfying, I committed myself to finding ways to help.
The skills that comprise the Becoming Safely Embodied groups are the result of that search. I wanted easy to apply, take home skills that people could use when they weren't in therapy. They also work well while in therapy, but they came about to support people outside of the therapy hour.
I have been honored to contribute to people's healing journey. It's been a privilege to be with people as they learn to trust their own wisdom and use that wisdom to guide themselves to healing.
I currently have a private practice teaching groups and individuals the skills of Becoming Safely Embodied in Watertown, MA, just outside of Boston. I also teach these skills to therapists so they can support their own clients.
It's also been my pleasure to teach for the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute nationally as well as internationally. The SP trauma training is a wonderful way to learn about working in the body of those who have trauma histories.
